Workshop on Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Email Etiquette & Group Discussion

    A two-day workshop on ‘‘Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Email Etiquette & Group Discussion” was organized for VGEC students by SCOPE (Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English) during 26-27 June 2021 through Microsoft Teams.  80+ participants attended this workshop in which Dr Rachna Arora (Department of Language Literature and Aesthetics Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar) rendered her services as an expert. Dr Vaseem Qureshi coordinated the event.

    SCOPE is a Government of Gujarat initiative working to build English language proficiency in the youth of Gujarat and thereby to create employment opportunities for them. To help VGEC students learn effective interview skills and group discussion tactics, this workshop was specially conducted. The other objective of the workshop was to make students aware of the importance of an effective resume and about the appropriate mannerisms in GD and interviews. It was also aimed to discuss some accepted conventions for professional conversation through emails.

    During the Workshop, the expert started with the difference between a resume and a CV. She also highlighted how to build an effective resume - how to write effective resume bullets, career objectives and the importance of customization of resume from company to company. She also gave tips for effective resumes and cover letters. She also discussed in detail how to face interviews confidently and discussion on the dos and don’ts of Interviews. The other day, the expert talked about do’s and don’t of email writing with examples. She also conducted a GD through which students learnt how to take part in any GD effectively.
