Special Camp by National Service Scheme (NSS VGEC)

NSS Special Camp was organized by Vishwakarma Government Engineering College during 28th Jan to 3rd Feb 2023 at Adalaj village, Gandhinagar, under the supervision of the NSS Program Officer Dr. A. H.  Dafda and under the guidance of principal Dr. N. N. Bhuptani. The main objective of the camp was to evolve the volunteers as a human and an agent of social change. Its thrust was on activities and lectures that help the volunteers to work for the community, in the community, and with the community. Multifarious interactive sessions, workshops, demonstrations, and lectures were held to educate the volunteers about certain social, physical, psychological, and political phenomena. Each day began with various interactive sessions, guest lectures as well as fieldwork. 50+ volunteers participated in the special camp.

First Day of the camp (28/01/2023)

The camp started with a small inauguration program. After that, volunteers took the rally, so they got familiar with the village and the different routes of the village. After that, the survey was conducted on government schemes and banking policies.

Second Day of the camp (29/01/2023)

On this Day, Nukkad Natak was performed to express gratitude for the soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Furthermore, they collected the Sainik Welfare Fund to provide much-needed help and relief to the families of our brave soldiers.

Afterward, A medical health care camp was set up by the NSS volunteers. The health camp aimed to administer Health Awareness and provide health counseling.

Third Day of the camp (30/01/2023)

The major event on this day was the Cleanliness drive, with an objective to encourage the residents of the village, to be part of cleanliness drives and practice it regularly. Volunteers collected every single dry waste that came along the village’s rally route, along with slogans to educate locals to separate dry and wet waste.

The next event was a session on empowering women which was held at the Kanya Shala for all the girls studying there. Mrs. Usmita Shah was invited as the chief guest who talked about the hidden strength of women and motivated girl students.

Fourth Day of the camp (31/01/2023)

On this day NSS unit conducted a session on Rainwater Harvesting at Kumar Shala. The significance of rainwater harvesting was taught through model demonstration.

Later, an informative session about G20 was arranged to give detailed knowledge. Students explained the effect it could have on our country’s educational, economic, and political sections to make it a developed one. In this session, Principal Dr. N. N. Bhuptani and the Program Coordinator of NSS VGEC, Dr. Alpesh Dafda, remained present.

Fifth Day of the camp (01/02/2023)

A Morning Rally was organized to bring awareness to the people of the village about cancer. Later, a session was arranged on Cybersecurity. Through a presentation and a small skit, importance of cyber security was discussed.

Sixth Day of the camp (02/02/2023)

On this Day, volunteers were divided into two groups. One group took an interactive session to aware school students about the importance of sports and physical education at Kumar Shala. Some topics covered were the necessity of physical and sports activities for good health and the downside of mobile phones for kids.

Moreover, another group planned to prepare a meal for everyone. They managed to get each necessary things like utensils, groceries, and vegetables to prepare lunch.

Last Day of the camp (03/02/2023)

On the last Day, everyone shared the experience they got throughout the special camp. NSS VGEC expressed their gratitude towards the Sarpanch and Principal of both schools ‘Kumar Shala’ and ‘Kanya Shala’ for providing support and cooperation during the camp. After this, the NSS unit visited the heritage site ‘Adalaj stepwell’ to explore the rich ancestry.
