On 26th April 2023, IEEE VGEC Student Branch organized an industrial visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Science Exhibition (VSSE) at ISRO Ahmedabad. The visit showcased India’s space technology achievements, including Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions. Students interacted with ISRO Exhibition Members, learned about space technology, and toured the Gaganyaan mission, Aditya Mission & Future Plans.  The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the advancements in space technology and science.

Objectives:

• To showcase India’s space technology achievements
• To provide students with insights into working in the field of space technology
• To provide students with an understanding of the contribution of Vikram Sarabhai and the history of Indian space research, and witness the advancements in space technology and innovation at the Vikram Sarabhai Science Exhibition

Learning Lessons:

• Satellites: parts and working, subsystems such as power, thermal, communication, altitude and orbit control
• Launch Vehicles: focus on GSLV and PSLV, covering key components such as stages, engines, avionics and their role in launching satellites
• The sessions provided valuable insights into the complexities involved in designing and launching satellites, and the opportunities and challenges in space technology
