Instrumentation & Control Engineering Department organised an expert talk under the IEI student Chapter VGEC, Chandkheda. The main aim of this talk was to introduce students to the architecture of a high-power RF amplifier system, including the role of the local control unit (LCU) in managing and interfacing with the amplifier. Ms. Dipal Soni, Scientific Officer, ITER-India, IPR explained the functions and responsibilities of the local control unit in the context of the RF amplifier system, such as parameter monitoring, fault detection, power control, and interface with external systems. She also explained the interfacing requirements between the local control unit and the high-power RF amplifier, signal conditioning, data acquisition, and synchronization.
