The Applied Mechanics Department organised an expert lecture on "Advancement in SCC Mix Proportioning – Processes – Opportunities – Challenges - Current Practices” at A-block, Visvesvaraya Auditorium for the students of sem. 3 and sem. 5 of Civil Engineering Department. The main objective of the expert lecture was to provide knowledge about the basics of concrete mix design, its importance, upcoming advancements, and many more. The expert lecture included Q/A sessions for solving every kind of queries. The expert lecture concluded with the vote of thanks to the expert who helped the students to gain the knowledge in the domain area.
In the current advancement in the construction industry, the role of special concrete is very predominant. The self-compacting concrete is one of the type of special concrete which flow under its own weight without any compaction requirement at challenging locations. In this expert talk, detail information regarding self-compacting concrete had been discussed at length by the eminent speaker. The main discussion includes about the mix proportions of self-compacting concrete as per the latest Indian standard IS: 10262 – 2019. The export also elaborate the processes involves in material selection, its properties, opportunities and challenges faced by the industries in day to day concrete requirement for various types of infrastructural projects and current practices in the construction industry.
The session also featured praises from Principal Sir Dr. V. S. Purani Sir, for the Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics Departments in their sheer efforts in organizing insightful expert lectures for their students.
