The IEEE VGEC Student Branch organized FreshCode 5.0, a regional-level offline DSA coding competition aimed at strengthening participants' problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning, and programming skills through a competitive coding environment. The event encouraged students from various colleges to apply programming concepts efficiently, enhance algorithmic thinking, and experience the spirit of competitive programming.
The competition was conducted offline on the SkillScript competitive programming platform and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 23 students representing different colleges. It consisted of two rounds designed to evaluate participants' coding proficiency, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills under time constraints.
The first round was conducted from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and consisted of five coding problems, including three easy and two medium difficulty questions. The problems covered topics such as number-based logic, stack and parentheses validation, pattern printing, bit manipulation, recursion, graph traversal, and other implementation-based concepts. Based on their performance, the top 15 participants qualified for the second round.
The second round was conducted from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and consisted of four coding problems, including two medium and two hard difficulty questions. Participants were required to develop efficient solutions while demonstrating strong logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and coding proficiency under competitive conditions.
The submissions were evaluated based on correctness, efficiency, and successful completion of the given problems. The top three participants were declared winners and were awarded cash prizes and certificates, while the remaining participants in the top 15 received IEEE goodies.
FreshCode 5.0 successfully provided participants with an engaging platform to strengthen their problem-solving skills, gain exposure to competitive programming, and foster a healthy spirit of learning and competition.
