The Electrical Engineering Department of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC) organized an educational visit for 6th Semester students to the 1 MW Solar Power Plant at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU). The visit was arranged to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge of renewable energy systems and their real-time implementation in large-scale solar photovoltaic power generation. During the visit, students were introduced to the overall configuration, operation, and monitoring of the solar power plant, including solar PV arrays, power electronic converters, inverter systems, protection equipment, and grid integration arrangements. The technical team provided detailed insights into the design, operation, performance monitoring, and maintenance practices of the solar power plant, highlighting practical aspects such as maximum power point tracking (MPPT), energy conversion efficiency, power quality, protection, and challenges associated with renewable energy integration. Students also observed the solar PV installation and associated control and monitoring facilities, enabling them to gain valuable practical exposure to renewable energy technologies and large-scale solar power generation systems.
