Abstract Covid-19 is a serious pandemic which the entire world is facing at present. As a measure of prevention from the deadly virus whose vaccine is not yet available social distancing and sanitization is very useful. We propose designing of a multi-purpose UV-C based disinfection machine that could be helpful in during this war against covid-19. In this current situation there is a need to install these disinfection machine units in the public places to avoid contact with the virus. Also the proposed design makes time saving for disinfect the various things and surfaces. It is well known at UV-C wavelength (~270 nm) has the ability to destroy the nucleic acid contained in virus/ bacteria. Hence, these microorganisms are destroyed upon exposure to this this wavelength. The machine containing suitable number of UV-C sources of appropriate wattage has been constructed. Fruits, vegetables and other items of daily use and surfaces are disinfect. This results in destruction of any virus/ bacteria that might be present.
