Abstract This invention introduces a hybrid energy management system for high-performance electric vehicles (EVs), integrating a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack with a super-capacitor bank. The system features an onboard charger (OBC) for simultaneous charging, a DC bus changeover system for dynamic power distribution, and a capacitor management system (CMS) for voltage regulation. A digital signal processor or microcontroller optimally hybridizes energy sources based on real-time driving conditions, ensuring efficient power delivery. The super-capacitor bank handles sudden acceleration and regenerative braking, reducing battery stress and extending its lifespan. During regenerative braking, energy is first stored in the super-capacitors, with excess energy transferred to the Li-ion battery. This design enhances acceleration, improves regenerative braking, extends battery life, and increases vehicle range. By improving energy efficiency and reducing battery strain, this system represents a major advancement in EV technology, offering superior performance and sustainability in high-power applications.
